There is nothing like your first vacation in Destin, FL! Boasting some of the nation’s most beautiful beaches and a uniquely welcoming atmosphere, our Gulfside city casts a spell on visitors that lasts a lifetime. To help you make the most of your Destin vacation, we have put together four travel savvy tips for beginners.

1. Choose the Right Airport

Many residents of the Southeast are lucky enough to be within driving distance of the Emerald Coast. Destin is less than 5 hours from New Orleans, LA, Birmingham, AL, Atlanta, GA, and Jackson, MS (depending on traffic).

If you live too far away to drive, you can fly into one of the three airports in the Destin area. Here are the closest airports to Destin:

  • Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport – about 30 minutes from the Vacation Happily office
